A few days ago, I was at Futureshop picking up my copy of Burnout: Paradise. A middle-aged guy was there returning a stack of DVD’s. He told the girl at the counter that he wants to get them on Blu-Ray instead because he heard that “the other one” had lost.

Clearly, the war is over.

The soundtrack for the newest (maybe greatest?) installment of Criterion’s excellent Burnout series looks like it might be a step down from the last game. Gone are Bloc Party and Maximo Park… instead half the list is bands I’ve never heard of, and another quarter that I wish I hadn’t heard. Between this list and DJ Atomica’s inclusion in the game, audio is clearly going to be Burnout’s weak point. As of now I’m most excited about the prospect of destroying my opponents with Girlfriend blaring in the background. The rest of the songs after the break…
