WISHLIST: PSN (part one)

March 24th, 2008 | Category: Feature

Oddworld

Lately, I’ve been more excited about the PSN titles than any of the full-blown ones that have been coming out for the PS3.   This probably has something to do with the fact thought I bought a PSP (and can play the PSone ports on it) and the fact that the last PS3 game I played was Heavenly Sword and the intermittent, though extreme, suck drained me of some good-will.  Here are a few games I’d like to see show up on the PSN.

I suck at fighting games…do you? Maybe this will help!

March 03rd, 2008 | Category: Feature

All this talk of fighting games has got me excited! Why…I don’t really know, there is something intrinsically cool about the fighting games and they’ve held a special status with myself since reading about Street Fighter II in a gaming magazine. Read more

WISHLIST: Future Rock Band DLC

March 01st, 2008 | Category: Feature

The Beatles

Rock Band’s monopolization of my free time has extended to me day dreaming about the game when I’m not even playing. This happens at work, on the way to work, in the bathroom, while I’m playing other games, before falling asleep, on dates, in the middle of pleasuring Adriana Lima and while trying to uncatch whatever the Hilton/Lohan three-way may have given me…

Anyway, here’s a list of song packs I’d like to see offered:

Which games support 1080p?

January 19th, 2008 | Category: Feature

Checking out my own gaming library I came away with only 2 titles of 6 that support the top resolution the PS3 is capable of - “1080p.” This isn’t too surprising as getting 60fps at 1080p can be challenging and I’m sure if developers are really pushing that envelope they might be wiser to put their efforts elsewhere. Yet pretty games like Call of Duty 4 seem to do all right. However I was still curious and not being able to find a definitive list online I have compiled my own (non definitive) list from conducting several searches on MobyGames.com

Why the PS3 (update) and happy new year!

January 01st, 2008 | Category: Feature

Happy New Year! 2007 good riddance, welcome 2008 and what will probably be THE decisive year for the PS3. Which brings me to a follow up to the very first ever post on PS mafia! And why I am still supporting the PS3 as the platform of choice. Read more

Kotaku’s Mark Wilson, game reviews are broken!

October 31st, 2007 | Category: Feature

Mark Wilson over at the mecca of gaming blogs that is KOTAKU, has written a piece on how game reviews are broken. I tend to agree with most of the points he makes, but I’d venture to say that game reviews will always be broken. Its a subjective business, where people are relying on other people with different opinions to tell them what to like.

Even here at PSmafia, Jaworksy, the other editor in crime, has widely different tastes in video games, and correspondingly what makes them great. If you could read a profile of what I consider the best games of all time, I doubt there would be much overlap between our lists. But it doesn’t matter, we still agree on “good” games and there are multitudes of people out there which will see it differently. Read more
