US/UK PSN stores for international gamers (or “How I stopped worrying and learned to love Entropay”)
In an earlier post, Cow_Shed mentioned that it is possible to use a service called Entropay to get around using your own country’s Playstation Store. Basically, you put money on a virtual credit card (either in American dollars, or British pounds), and Entropay charges you a service fee of 4.95%*.
Here’s how to use it…
Note: These instructions are for the American Playstation Store, as it’s the one I have experience with. However, I imagine it would be the same for a British account.
1) Create an American/British playstation account. I’d recommend finding a valid address as I think Sony checks these.
2) Sign up for an Entropay account (you’ll need a valid credit card). Enter all you valid information (as you would for something like Amazon or Ebay). Enter the information for your credit card. I had to wait about seven hours before my info was checked and I was able to load money into my Entropay account. This may or may not be typical.
3) To add money to your American PSN wallet, you’ll need the card number, security number, and expiry date for your Entropay account (these can all be found on the credit card image that appears on the Entropay site). When you’re prompted for “Cardholder’s Name”, enter “Entropay User” and when asked about the billing address, make sure the box is checked that references the address you used in Step 1 (Entropay doesn’t check that address like real credit cards would, so you could enter anything but this is the easiest).
4) Download cheaper American games/content!
* This charge works out to Entropay billing you for $10.50USD when you add the minimum $10USD. What my credit card company ended up charging me was $10.73CAN. This is due to the exchange rate and the exchange charge that the credit card company throws on top (no different than buying anything on the internet in American dollars).

[…] UPDATE: We have a guide up now HERE […]
[…] Update: Please see our guide to bypassing the Canadian store HERE […]
I plan on trying this out as well, maybe I’ll pick up the PS Eye games or Pixel Junk Monsters..although that defeats the purpose a bit since PixelJunk Monsters isn’t too badly priced.
Did you have an issue with a $1 authorization being put on your Entropay card by Sony?
Finally i can get the metallica pack for Rockband
this made my day.. Thanks
@Blashyrk Ha, no worries. Enjoy the fair pricing.
“Did you have an issue with a $1 authorization being put on your Entropay card by Sony?”
No. Not in my case.
Just curious…
At step #1:
1) Create an American/British playstation account. I’d
recommend finding a valid address as I think Sony
checks these.
Am I to make up a US address, or will using my Canadian address work fine?
@ Calab - To get the American/British PSN account, you’ll need an adress from the appropriate country. Your Canadian address will only allow you to create a Canadian account.
In my case I just googled a popular hotel chain and used the address from one of the hotels in Detroit (not that the city makes a difference). The main thing is to get a valid zip code. Maybe the rest of the address doesn’t matter???
PS> foreign PSN accounts are also useful for getting demos/videos/etc that aren’t (yet) available in your home country.
@jaworsky
Actually he said he got the authorization hold on his Entropay account, not the credit card or PSN. Like you load $15, but then only $14 is available…you think he’s not accouting for the 5%? But he said it actually shows up as a separate charge.
@Cow_Shed
Okay, yeah, Entropay holds onto a dollar. As in I have $5 in my account but only $4 available. I don’t think it has anything to do with Sony. I assumed this was going to disappear but I guess it hasn’t.
Hi,
I try entropay for uk ps store. It seems not working. “Card is not valid”
Could someone help me?
Same here…I put all the info…continue….continue…”Card info not valid”….WTF?? I’m starting to get realy frustrated about this shit.
@haumesser @Dimi
Is this the Entropay card info or the PSN network when you put the Entropay card in?
thanks for your help, Cow_shed.
In fact, I don’t really understand your question. I try so to answer. Apologize if I dont answer well.
I fill un psn store uk a good adress with my name “haumesser”
After, i try to register a entropay card for this psn account. with entropay user as card user name.
For entropay card, i ask a $ as currency (does it matter ?)
I try this entro pay card for a us psn account it works.
But as i want to buy songs for singstar on psn uk…..
Thanks for help….
Guys? Can I attach to PSN an entropay credit card that has no money on it?
I’m gessing maybe thats why after i am putting all the info it gives me the error “Billing info incorect”.
I don’t no what to do anymore.
Someone? Anyone?
@haumesser
I think I understand your question now. Unfortunately I don’t think a USD $ entropay card will work on the UK store, you will have to register a separate UK card in Pounds. Then go through the same steps to make a British PSN account which it sounds like you have done, and then use that card for the UK account. Unfortunately you need an entropay account in GBP to access the UK store, but I have to admit, we’ve only tried this scheme with the US store, but I think that’s the problem.
@Demi
Hey Demi, it may be necessary to add funds. Did you have to go through a waiting period before having access to your Entropay account? I know Jaworsky had to wait about 7 hours before he could load money onto the account and it was validated. Have you had this waiting period as well?
ENTROPAY DOESN’T WORK ON PLAYSTATION@NETWORK ANYMORE, PEOPLE.
@SNAKE
where did you get this info? I haven’t heard of anyone else having problems (if they had it working in the past)
@SNAKE: I just logged in and was able to add $10 to my American account using Entropay. So I can confirm that it still works for existing users.
I can’t confirm that it’s still possible to add Entropay cards, without creating a whole new account (and I’m lazy)…
don’t think that entropay works for UK. Tried entropay for both UK for numerous times and days but it keeps failing. However works like a dream for US PSN. apparently, entropay is only working for US PSN. (tried Australia PSN, Ireland PSN as well to no avail)
Trying to buy SingStar song tracks off the other PSN but i guess just gotta wait till release from US PSN.
@apriltan18: Thanks for the heads-up. Did you use a British Entropay card (in pounds) when signing up for the UK account?
Finally got around to making a card. I had instant approval and no authorization hold either. This may be because my bank uses a secondary “verified by visa” scheme.
Haven’t tried it on the store yet so we’ll see if it still works with new cards.
I signed up for entropay no problem at all. havent tried puttin the pay details on psn yet though. heres hoping
i just set up a new account and got pain it works on my pal uk ps3 i am so happy now thanks for the info
lol using a hotel chain, very clever…
yeah entropay doesnt seem to be working for me, just made up a new PSN name etc tried to buy rock band stuff and its not allowing me
look like I’ll be importing some PSN cards then
@vivalahazy: were you using an American or British account? Also, maybe try putting money into the psn wallet before attempting to buy anything.
I was trying to buy stuff through a US account with a british based entropay account. Tried putting money in the wallet first of all then tried when just buying it in the store
saying this though I hadn’t filled my card up with any money though
Yeah you will have to load up the card first, and as long as your entropay card is a USD one, you should be fine. If you want to test it out, you need to put at least $6 dollars on the card, as the wallets minimum amount you can add is $5, and entropay seems to hold $1 as an authorization or something, it eventually does become available again.
So, has anyone suceeded buying from UK PSN? i’ve tried US with entropay, and it works, but i have PAL Warhawk, and i want to buy Omega Dawn booster, and i dont know what to do? so if anyone got through with UK PSN account and with virtual cards, plz let me know on jovus88@gmail.com
@jovus88, I’m trying to get my £GBP Entropay card working. I live in Canada and I want to buy songs from the UK Singstore, but after I enter my Entropay card details, plus a real UK address, it says “invalid info”.
I only have £5 on the card, and I’m trying to add the minimum £5 to my wallet. Not sure if that’s the problem as it’s been stated that Entropay holds something like $1, so maybe the PSN thinks I’m over my limit. I don’t really want to add more £GBP to my Entropay though, in case it doesn’t work.
@Britbloke
I added 15 USD to entropay, but was only able to add $10 as the $1 hold meant when I went to add the remaining $5, I was out of luck.
As far as the UK store, I haven’t tried it, but it sounds like the card is the problem not the funds. Does it show you’ve been approved on the Entropay site? Sometimes it takes awhile before your card is approved, I’m guessing this could take longer if you are dealing with a UK account. Entropay is actually based in the UK, and why would they offer a card in GBP if it wasn’t based in UK? I can’t think of why the same process that works on the US PSN, wouldn’t work on the UK PSN. Have you had success with the US PSN?
@So will it work with my GBP entropay card if I load it first, quite reluctant to try it out , don’t want to lose a fiver over nothing
update for people using a GBP entropay on US account, LOAD THE CARD FIRST!!!!! and it will work, just loaded £5 on the card (£5.25) and bought the Oasis Rock Band pack currently downloading
@vivlahazy
Thanks for confirming this!
Hi!
Just opened a EUR Entropay Account and it doesn’t work for US PSN (Card was loaded). Just get the “invalid cc info” page.
Will try it again with a USD Currency Account….hope this works.
@Enzyme
Yes, in order to use the US PSN with Entropay, you must sign up for a USD account, not GBP. Good luck!
@ Cow_Shed
Thx, i will try it as soon as my EUR account is closed. Because you can have only one account @ the same time.
Just wanted to try it because vivlahazy did it with a GBP account @ the US PSN but EUR doesn’t seem to work.
I don’t know why some people are having problems with this, a GBP entrocard on the US PSN definetly works and I’ve been jamming away on Hard To Handle on Rock band. It could be down to the type of card you’re loading it with, I used my Visa Debit card to load money to my Entrocard, which is also Visa btw
also remember to say the cardholders name is ENTROPAY USER and anot your own
Yeah, i did exactly the same as you did but with a EUR instead of a GBP account and it didn’t worked. Now that i’am using a USD Account it works fine.
@Cow_Shed… Yes, I tried my Entropay card on the US PSN store and it worked great, so I know that the Visa number is good.
It still won’t work on the UK PSN store though, which is where I need it so I can download Singstar tracks.
@Britbloke
I think from the comments and from personal experience with ppl on the site the following has been confirmed (’->’ works, ‘X’ doesn’t work, ‘??’ not sure)
USD Entropay -> US PSN
GBP Entropay -> US PSN
EUR Entropay X US PSN
USD Entropay X UK PSN
GBP Entropay X UK PSN
EUR Entropay ?? UK PSN
I didn’t even know you could make a EUR account…or am I reading that wrong? I’m quite surprised if the GBP account isn’t working on the UK PSN, but it may indicate that Entropay, although based in the UK is tying their virtual visas to the US banking system.
@ Cow_Shed
it’s possible to create a USD - GBP or EUR account @ Entropay.
@Enzyme
Thanks for pointing that out. I must have missed that option, I only remember GBP and USD.
tried with GBP account and UK store, and i says: invalid cc info.. so i guess, no luck there. US works though, but in US store i cant buy that Omega Dawn Booster for Pal Warhawk
@jovus
Thanks for reporting that, I think we can almost be certain that Entropay does not work on the UK PSN.
sigh. does anyone know how to get to ireland psn/germany psn and so on? really desperate for singstar songs.
@apriltan18
I’d imagine you just change your country when making a PSN account, the same method as when using the US PSN or Japanese PSN. Being able to buy songs off those stores…that might be trickier!
Hi:
It seems like I must be idiot or retard, cause I’m not able to purchase from the US store, and I really want to shop the Tekken Dr, please, someone would be so kind of write an Step by Step Guide (with examples of what should be writen at fields) or post screenshots of the process.
I’m desesperate for a “PSN SHOPPING FOR DUMMIES” guide.
@ImKindaNuB
What isn’t working? If you can sign up for an entropay card, you are halfway there. The only tricky part, where you don’t fill in info just as instructed, is when setting up the US PSN account. You must use a VALID US address, and preferably in a State with no Sales tax (like Nevada). Then you just enter your CC info as given by entropay. If you can give us a few more details, maybe we can help you out!
Hey, ty for replay.
Well, I handle to get a entropay Account, and I think I use a valid Us address, I get one at http://www.whitepages.com and I tried one hotel in Las Vegas “3801 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109″.
So Im not sure what im doing wrong.
I write “3801 Las Vegas Blvd S” on Address1 Field
Then I write Las Vegas on City
Then at state field I pick Nv
And finally on Postal Code I write 89109
Which is the same I put on the PSN account I just create
I also write “ENTROPAY USER” at cards holder name (with caps)
And I think thats all.
Pd. Which currency Its best at entropay? Dolars or Pounds?
@ImKindaNuB
Both GBP and USD have been verified to work by commentors on this post, but personally I use USD. Okay, so it sounds like your PSN account is all so I have a couple more questions for you to see where the problem might be.
Is it saying invalid credit card info? Or is it just not letting you add money to your PSN wallet?
If you can add funds to the entropay card and it shows up on your entropay account, there is an “authorization” hold of $1 so if you put $5 (min you can add to PSN wallet) you actually only have $4. I made this mistake by adding $15, but could only add $10 so I have $4 I can’t add till the auth charge goes away (which it does eventually).
Hey guys,
Great writeup. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Wirecard? https://www.wirecard.com/wirecard/#
If anyone knows if Wirecard can be accepted at both the UK and US PSN Stores without problems?
I do know both Entropay and Wirecard are good but I’m not sure which one is a better deal.
@senkun
I’ve heard of it, but haven’t tried it out. I’ve seen it mentioned on the Playstation forums but I haven’t seen any success stories with it. Right now, there hasn’t been anyone confirmed buying off the UK store so maybe Wirecard could solve that problem. But again, haven’t heard any success stories, and if you just want the US PSN store, then Entropay is the way to go I figure.
Just a curiousity.. so nobody able to purchase from PSN UK using entropay.. whatever the CCy is.. US$ or GBP…
Howabout using it for xboxlive for purchasing ms point? thx
This looks a little fishy to me. I went to the site to see what was required to register and one of the identification options was SIN/SSN. I didn’t think they were allowed to ask for that. Might just be a safety thing on their end, but I don’t think I’d feel comfortable giving them credit card information as well as enough for identify theft
@Merc: Yeah, I saw that too and didn’t really like it. I’ve had other companies ask for some of those pieces of ID before I didn’t like it then either.
I’ve been using Entropay for a while now (since the post went up) and haven’t run into any weird billing issues or anything, so I think it’s legit. I haven’t heard any complaints with it (other than it not working for Euro PSN). I have heard a few people unhappy with Wirecard though.
Stay away from wirecard, I just tried it as a EU user trying to get stuff from the US PStore. And it’s not working at all, simply because it’s still a EU virtual card that you get. But it even doesn’t work on my EU PStore! So they’ve robbed me of 11 euros, since they won’t give refunds, and it’s impossible to transfer the money to anywhere, except to another wirecard-cc. Redicilous.
So with entropay, in the EU getting stuff from the US PStore is impossible too?
@Mav
No, Entropay works for buying from the US PS store, check the guide above and good luck. I’d also read through some of the beginning comments for any gotchas.
I’m heaving lots of trouble getting my money back from wirecard, and now I’ve found out why I can’t use the wirecard in my own Dutch PStore:
“Thank you for contacting the Wirecard Service Team.
We would like to inform you that your Wirecard MasterCard is issued in Germany and not in the Netherlands. That is the reason Playstation is rejecting your payments as we already mentioned.”
So much for “worldwide” usage, and even if you sign up with another country, it’s still only valid for Germany. But since I din’t fill out a German address, it can’t be used at all. Smells like one big scam.
From what I gather about the Entropay way, I have to sign up with a US address? That’s a bit illegal innit? At least they allow you to transfer it back to your own creditcard if it fails. Though that will cost quite a lot.
I Just tried Entropay, and can confirm it does still work.
But I now found out that the cheap warhawk pack with both mapaddons has disappeared. Just my luck, a day too late.
At least I’m sure to get working updates for my US imported games now, since sometimes the EU updates don’t work with them.
Thanks for an awesome guide,
I read about the entropay somewere else, but i couldnt getit working on PS store.
The name thing f**cked it up, Now it works like a charm….
Once again!
Thanks!!!
how to sign up a japanese psn network with foreign credit card with entro pay can not at japan psn network
Hi, I’m a US user that would like to download UK Singtar tracks that are not available in the USA, but my credit card is only tied to US. I can’t get a VCC from the USA due to online gambling legislation, etc.
My proposal. I will fill $50 in a USA sub-account that you create to access the US store if you fill the equivalent in british lbs onto my UK sub-account with a one time deposit. Can then change passwords, etc on the account to resecure.
E-mail me at daniel90000france@yahoo.com if interested and have yahoo IM so we can try to get this to work.
Has anyone figured out how someone in North America can buy something a the UK store? I also tried entropay with no luck.
Hello ,i also made a entropay account (i live in germany) and put the currancy on euro . Maybe because of this it doesnt work? Need i to put us dollar there??
Please gelfp alwas it is written the cc is not valid : (
Hey fellas.
I’m from Germany ,too .
I got a Entropaycard with USD currency … but till now did’nt load money on it …
I think that is the reason why I’m not able able to add my entropay-CC to the US PSN-store, isn’t it??
If you have any Idea please tell me.
Denzio@web.de
Yeah i can also confirm that the Wirecard does not work anymore.
I live in Canada, and I want to access the European Singstore,
so I have to create an european PSN account (I chose a France address).
On ENTROPAY, I’m about to create an account in EURO. It seems that nobody tried this option… does it works?
Help!
Hey K8te,
The only one confirmed working is Entropay US to US PSN
